Denis Leary to Tour with Newly Discovered Bill Hicks Jokes

Boston, MA — American comedian Denis Leary announced that he would embark on his first comedy tour in over 15 years after he recently discovered a vault containing over 3000 unused Bill Hicks jokes. The popular entertainment figure is the star and co-creator of Rescue Me, which ended its seventh and final season on September 7, 2011.

Mr. Leary has starred in many motion pictures, most recently as Captain George Stacy in Marc Webb’s film, The Amazing Spider-Man, Cleveland Browns Head Coach Vince Penn in Ivan Reitman’s 2014 film, Draft Day, and the voice of Diego in the Ice Age franchise. However, his 1993 No Cure for Cancer is considered his break-out performance and the first time he stocked his show with Bill Hicks material.

Mr. Leary has come under fire for what some say is re-using Bill Hicks’s material right after the comedian’s unfortunate cancer illness and death in 1994. However, he has always claimed that he was just an admirer of the firebrand and outspoken comic and merely mimicked his style, as all performers do.

However, to his credit, Mr. Leary has tirelessly promoted firefighters via his self-titled, non-profit Leary Firefighters Foundation, which has provided aid and support to one of this nation’s most under-served occupations.

It’s unclear how Mr. Leary came upon the treasure trove of unused Bill Hicks material, but from a recent press release, he plans on using all of them to the maximum effect.

“Mr. Leary is committed to providing the kind of hard-edged, cutting entertainment his fans have come to expect,” said spokeswoman Bethany Millbright. “By coming upon thousands of unused Bill hicks jokes, Mr. Leary had no choice but to head out on the road again.”

According to the press release, Denis Leary will perform for six months in over 75 US cities.
