Weed, CA — According to the conservative site RightWingNewsNow! Who obtained a leaked Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) document, the disaster preparation organization has been funneling millions of dollars over the past 35 years into the budget hospitality company Motel 6.
According to the memo, FEMA has been preparing the motel chain as emergency lodging for some, as stated in the document, “significant national event.” The report was found in a Motel 6 in Weed, CA, several miles south of the Oregon/California border.
With locations across the United States, Motel 6 was the obvious choice for FEMA planners. In 1982, the Reagan Administration issued a secret executive order instructing the newly formed organization to create a contingency plan if “large amounts of United States citizens need to be evacuated.”
Lacking the lodging infrastructure and know-how, FEMA secretly partnered with Motel 6 to build and fortify each of its locations to accommodate as many as 27 million citizens for “short to mid-term emergency and re-education housing needs.”
“With spartan yet efficient and austere accommodations, Motel 6 is the perfect choice for mass housing,” said a FEMA director who wished to remain anonymous. “Now that the word is out, citizens should feel confident that their Federal Government is working to give them a reasonable and comfortable place to ride-out the pending, extinction-level events that are before us.”
FEMA worked closely with the budget lodging chain to ensure that each of its motels was strategically located in “evacuation zones.” The agency also provided engineering and architectural oversight in ensuring that each motel, which is called “lodging pods” in the leaked memo, could withstand a “significant and catastrophic event.” To that end, FEMA made sure that every post-1984 construction was built with reinforced concrete cinder and, in some cases, lead-lined exterior superstructures.
According to the memo, the idea was to use the budget hotel concept as cover to create living environments capable of sustaining millions of people for an extended period. At the same time, this covert construction was happening. The agency also engaged in a disinformation campaign that remains to this day.
FEMA disseminated a popular conspiracy theory that it was rounding up citizens to be interned in camps made of ramshackle cabins and tents located in a remote place like the Nevada desert. This allowed the government agency to go undetected for years.
“The beauty of this disaster solution,” continued the insider, “is that it can just go about its business. And when we need to activate Plan 45-A4, Motel 6s across the country will be ready for us. That’s the genius of this government/business partnership.”
