Local Middle Class Family Creates $12 Million GoFundMe Campaign

Grass Valley, CA — The average middle-class American Day Family of Grass Valley made the bold and unprecedented move on Wednesday to start  a $12 Million “GoFundMe” campaign to help pay the costs of their supplemental property taxes, their tier 3 and 4 PG&E energy bill, and the miscellaneous recreation fees for their children’s activities.

“Both Claire and I are literally down to zero dollars at the end of the month,” said Chip Day of Grass Valley. “And we see all these people out there on Facebook asking for money, jobs, you know, whatever they need. My daughter said we should start a ‘GoFundMe’ campaign to raise some money for the family. So I said it ‘why not?'”

The San Diego-based GoFundme.com is a crowd-funding platform that allows people to raise money, typically in small amounts for events ranging from life events such as celebrations and graduations to challenging circumstances like accidents, illnesses, being drunk, narcissism and just plain being too-dumb-for-life. “Crowd-funding” is the practice of raising money for a project or venture by raising contributions from a large number of gullible people, typically via the Internet using manipulative and sometimes misrepresentative pictures and images.

According to sources close to the family, Mr. Day arrived at the $12 Million dollar goal amount because, in his words, “Why the f#$% not?” And because, “if it’s good enough for other people, it’s good enough for us.”

The Day Family doesn’t expect to raise large amounts of money from their campaign, but hope springs eternal with Chip Day.

“I don’t see why we wouldn’t be as deserving as the next guy,” continued Chip. “But if I can get a few dollars to help pay tier 4 PG&E bills, I’d be happy. I mean, we can’t cheat our way onto the CARE program like others have. And then there’s the IRS. I suppose I’m gonna have to pay taxes on this crowdfunding money.”
