North San Juan Sisters Arrested for Illegal Weed Grow

North San Juan, CA — According to the Nevada County Sheriff, two sisters from Tyler Foote Road were arrested and charged with various weapons and growing permit violations.

Twin sisters Debra and Lola Hall were taken into custody late yesterday after a joint task force from the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). With the help of the Nevada County Sheriff, the team raided the 40-acre compound, seizing several guns, receipts, and an abnormally large collection of Tegan and Sarah compact discs.

“We received a few anonymous tips from neighbors that there may be illegal activity at the Hall residence,” said ATF spokesperson Bethany Millbright. “After staking out the property for over one month, we called in the Nevada County Sheriff for logistical help. Early yesterday morning, agents and sheriff deputies raided the compound seizing contraband and several other items of interest.”

The pair first drew attention to their activities due to the many cats on the property, which became a nuisance to neighbors.

“They had all these cats,” said North San Juan and Hall Sister’s neighbor Kent Dollop. “I mean, like 100? I don’t know, but they had a lot, and most were not fixed. They kept coming over and harassing my cats and eating their food. I tried to go over and talk to them, but they pulled shotguns on me.”

Both were booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility, awaiting transfer to federal jail. According to Nevada County animal control, the sister’s cats were rescued, and all have found homes, mainly in Grass Valley.
