Derry, NH — In news that is shaking the music world, esteemed progressive guitar player Robert Fripp announced that he is retiring from his leadership position in King Crimson and plans on spending his days at a Derry, New Hampshire’s Smash Music located on East Broadway Street.
Mr. Fripp is best known for his work with the groundbreaking progressive brad King Crimson starting in 1969 and continuing to this day. He has also worked extensively as a studio musician, notably with singer David Bowie on the albums Heroes and Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps), Brian Eno, and contributed sounds to the Windows Vista operating system, something he prefers not to talk about. His complete discography lists more than seven hundred releases over four decades.
The announcement, which sent shock-waves through the music industry, was not unexpected, according to sources close to Mr. Fripp, who say he was looking for something a little quieter.
“We are so excited to have Robert Fripp here in the live free or die state,” said Derry resident Davlin Colerino. “Derry is also home to Robert Frost and astronaut Alan Shepard. So I guess you can say we have all the famous Roberts. Well, except for Alan Shepard, who’s not a Robert, but you get the point. Right?”
Details are sketchy at this point, but Mr. Fripp will be joining the esteemed Smash music team later this year after he finishes some of his projects. He plans on teaching guitar, music theory, and a new Smash Music course called “Create Your Own Tim Signature.” Pricing is not available at this time.
