Miami, FL — Controversy broke out across the conservative media landscape over the weekend when American political commentator, and the creator and editor of the politically conservative American news aggregator Drudge Report, was overheard criticizing fellow conservative media personality Sean Hannity as being a “whiner.”

The comments during a conversation between Mr. Drudge and an unnamed book publisher whom the famous online provocateur was having a conversation with.

“I was sitting next to them at La Mar,” said the anonymous patron who captured the audio and shared it with CNN. “Drudge was being his usual animated self, and both of them were talking about a tell-all gossip book Matt was writing about the news business. When the conversation turned to Sean Hannity, he became really irritated and said he was ‘a big, lazy whiner’ who made his ‘living doing nothing.'”

The news of the comments sent shock waves through conservative media, prompting Mr. Hannity’s publicist to issue a formal statement late Sunday evening.

“These claims are in no way true, and but another fabrication of the fake news media,” said Mr. Hannity’s spokeswoman Bethany Millbright. “Matt and Sean are close friends despite Matt’s orientations. Both are fearless fighters for conservative principles and spoke with each other just the other day. The recording of Matt’s comments is fabricated by the left wing media.”

Matt Drudge could not be reached for comment.
